Pony Nicole Herauf is an actor, writer, and director based in Toronto.
Her debut feature film Young Female Playwright - written by Elli Moon, (“…a knotty exploration of womanhood and art making” — Polyester) premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival where she was awarded the New Visions Award, with subsequent screenings at the TIFF Bell Light box as part of a TIFF Cinematheque Special Event Presentation, and the Calgary Underground Film Festival.
Pony’s short body of short films have screened and been awarded at festivals such as Palm Springs, TIFF Next Wave, Fantasia, Whistler, the Vancouver International Film Festival, Inside Out, Dances With Films: New York, Mammoth Lakes, Chattanooga, Forest City, the Chilliwack Independent, and at the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show. Several of her shorts are available to stream on Film Shortage, and CBC Gem. She has worked as a story editor and contributing writer on numerous short and feature-length films.
Pony is an ACTRA member, and represented by the Characters Talent Agency. She has appeared Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, alongside drag queen Priyanka in OUTtv’s It’s All Sunshine and Rainbows, and in short films screening at TIFF, Festival de Nouveau Cinema, Fantasia, and Cannes. Pony co-created and stars in a found-footage horror film Summer coming to festivals this fall. Pony is a member of the avant-garde theatre/dance group ROCK BOTTOM MOVEMENT, and has worked with the company in residency at the Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, The National Ballet of Canada, Toronto Dance Theatre, and across theatres in Montreal, Calgary, and St. Johns. The company has received numerous Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
Pony has written and directed commercial work for brands such as NISSAN, Interac, Meridian, and VIA RAIL.
She lives with her fiancé Jaek and puppy Lamby.
